The purpose of the activities of BARIN is
- to provide a forum for discussions of matters of mutual interest
- to solicit consensus in cases where joint attitudes and action are
required
- to safeguard the interest of the members airlines with respect to
the framework imposed on carriers by public authorities
- to maintain contacts with public authorities, travel trade
organizations etc. as an airline body.
BARIN does not engage in activities prohibited by the Norwegian
Competition Law, nor replace activities that are the responsibility
of IATA.
How does BARIN work? Regular meetings are held four times a year, with the possibility to
call extraordinary meetings if necessary. Election of officers takes
place at the last meeting of the year (Annual General Meeting). The
Executive Committee consists of a Chairman, two Deputy Chairmen, a
representative of a "national carrier", and an Executive Secretary.
Election Committee, auditors, BARIN representatives to the Slot
coordination Committee are also elected once a year.
BARIN has links with other organizations and governmental
departments, which provide particular services to the airline
community, such as, but not limited to, IATA, Avinor, Civil Aviation
Authorities (CAA), OSL, Norwegian Travel Trade Association (NRF),
Airport Operating Committee (AOC).
BARIN guides and gives advice to
its Members in matters related to the Members' activities in Norway.
Who can join BARIN? All IATA or non-IATA member airlines, operating to/from and within
Norway or Scandinavia, or having an office in Scandinavia. GSAs may
join under certain conditions. |
